Prepare an image for an upload limit

Get the byte size, dimensions and format right as separate checks.

Step 1

Choose the actual size limit

Start with the receiving site’s rule. This example uses 200 decimal KB (200,000 bytes); that is not a universal platform requirement. Keep the original image before changing it.

Start with the 200 KB JPG preset
Step 2

Set dimensions when required

If the site also needs exact width and height, resize first. Fit preserves the whole image, cover crops to a frame and contain adds padding. A size limit alone does not tell you which framing is correct.

Set image dimensions
Step 3

Compress the resized export

Use the preset, choose the required format and inspect the resulting dimensions. Allowing smaller dimensions can help meet a difficult limit. A transparent logo may need PNG or WebP rather than JPG.

Compress the final image
Step 4

Check the actual exported file

Download the processed image and select that file in the upload checker. Enter the size, dimensions and format rules separately. A passing technical check does not guarantee that a platform accepts the image content.

Check the exported file

Review before you send.

The preset is a starting point. Confirm the destination’s actual requirements, inspect the downloaded output and retain your originals. These tools do not connect to your account or submit the finished file to another website.
